Getting the perfect photos in Paris

Congratulations! You’re engaged! You (or your significant other) popped the question, there was a resounding “YES” and now you two are headed to the most romantic city in the world and are looking for an engagement photographer in Paris.

Engagement photos are a way to commemorate a life-changing milestone, while sharing the news with your loved ones. They should be true to your story and who you are, oh and also capture the gorgeous city around you!

That’s why my photo sessions are focused on the couple – their interaction, emotion. Paris is a stunning background that compliments but never overpowers the love story. That’s why my Paris engagement sessions aren’t big productions – just me and my cameras. While I don’t pose my couples, I give them small prompts in order to make them comfortable and have fun. My favourite photos have big smiles, laughter, movement, dancing, silliness and lots and lots of love!

What should you look for in a

Paris engagement photographer

Paris is an amazing city with so much to offer, but it can also be a bit finicky. Between the inconsistent weather, heavy traffic and the crowds of tourists, it takes experience to navigate the city and get the best photos. While most engagement sessions require a professional photographer that understands light, composition and their camera, engagement sessions in Paris require some extra logistical knowledge. My job is to juggle all of these elements so that you get the best engagement photos while having an enjoyable and hassle-free session.

If you’ve been looking around at some other Paris photographers already, you’ll notice many different styles, from fine art to dark & moody to high fashion. As a photographer, it was important for me to take a long hard look at my work and find a style that speaks to me. Joy, love, cheer, light, excitement, honesty … all of these ideas are important to me and are reflected in my photography style.

Your Paris engagement photos aren’t just any couple’s photos – you’ll be hanging them in your home, as well as using them for the Save the Dates and wedding website.

That’s why you’ll want to plan ahead to make sure that your engagement photo session fits you perfectly.

Already live in Paris?

No problem! If you’ve had photos by the Eiffel Tower or Louvre already, I have a few other great locations up my sleeve…Montmartre, Jardin de Luxembourg or even your own neighbourhood.

The Location

You’re in Paris for a reason – the architecture, the cafés, the famous monuments, the historical streets – this is one photogenic city! Now you need to decide where you want to take your Paris engagement session. If this is your first time and you want to get all the must-haves, we can start off with the Eiffel Tower (I know a few hidden spots where you’ll get a great view with privacy), then head to the Tuileries Gardens, followed by the Louvre and then the Palais Royal.

For a longer session, we can include outfit changes and a few extra locations like Pont Alexandre III, Montmartre, Luxembourg Gardens, the Marais or any other place that interests you. Take a look at a selection of photo locations here.

Hair & Makeup

Engagement photos are the perfect opportunity to pamper yourself! After all, you’ve come all this way to Paris, so why not add a little extra glam to your session with professional hair and makeup. I can recommend several English-speaking hair & makeup artists that are experts at creating a variety of looks – from natural to dramatic – that are always photogenic.

The Wardrobe

The age-old question of what is wear is something that you’ll have to consider carefully for your Paris engagement photo session. You’ll have these photos forever, and they will be seen by all of your wedding guests, so it’s important that your wardrobe choice reflects who you are. No matter what you wear, let your personality shine through so that you feel beautiful and confident in your engagement photos.

You’re in Paris, so why not dress up as you make your way through historic streets and romantic parks. This isn’t a city known for great weather, so have a backup plan in case it gets rainy or chilly! Clear umbrellas are my go-to solution and they always look cute in photos. I’m happy to give some outfit advice before your trip.
